Results of the Low-Poly retopology and bake. 914 triangles in total. Did the retopo straight up in ZBrush, unwrapped in Blender (tried the UV Master in Zbrush, it's cool but low-precision), then baked Normal and Ambient Occlusion maps in XNormal (great free program, really easy to use).
I wasn't planning on it with this one initially, but the more I look at it the more I think it needs a full Mexican jungle scene to go with it :) .
Finished up with texturing, everything's handpainted (no photo-sourced textures), here are the results:
